James Quinn Obituary

James “Quinny” Stafford Quinn, 75, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, at the William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, Florida, surrounded by love.

James was born on December 20, 1949, in Rochester, New Hampshire, to the late Dr. George and Marian Quinn.

He grew up on Central Street in Farmington, NH, where he shared a joyful childhood with his siblings in a close-knit neighborhood that remained dear to him throughout his life.

A proud graduate of Farmington High School, Quinny went on to serve in the United States Coast Guard, where he completed Electrical Mates School—laying the foundation for his future career. He later built a successful and fulfilling career at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, a role that took him to places such as Scotland and Italy. After more than two decades of dedicated service, he retired in 1996.

Jim had a lifelong passion for golf, traveling far and wide with his close group of golf buddies and savoring every round. But above all else, he was a devoted family man.

He met and married his first wife, Judith Manson, and together they raised three children in Maine over more than 25 loving years. After Judith’s passing, Jim found companionship and love once again with his wife Eve. For 16 wonderful years, Jim and Eve embraced life as snowbirds before settling permanently in Florida, where Jim truly came alive.

In Florida, Jim thrived. He played golf regularly, cruised the neighborhood on his three-wheel bike—complete with rubber ducks gifted by his grandson Hunter adorning the handlebars. He cherished dancing with Eve and their friends, singing karaoke, and simply enjoying every sunshine-filled moment.

He found joy in the special memories he made with each of his grandchildren—cheering Emily on at Epcot as she played softball, commenting on live-streamed college games from afar, spending cherished summer days with Tanner and James in Maine, enjoying cookouts with Gabby and Kylee, and making unforgettable Christmas memories with Mason, Hunter and Chase. His family was his world, and he loved them fiercely.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, his beloved first wife Judith Quinn, his son Ryan Quinn, his granddaughter Allyson Sanfacon, his dear brother Nick Quinn, beloved mother and father-in-law Dorothy and Jim Manson and brother-in-law David Mosher.

He is survived by his loving wife Eve Quinn of Melbourne, FL; daughters Heather Sanfacon and her husband Joseph, and Taryn Frizzell and her husband Robert, all of Lebanon, ME; and stepson Paul Colby and his wife Jeana of West Palm Beach, FL. He leaves behind eight treasured grandchildren: Emily Sanfacon; Tanner and James Frizzell; Gabrielle and Kylee Quinn; and Mason, Hunter, and Chase Colby.

He is also survived by his siblings Eliot “Babe” Quinn and wife Sandra of Port Orchard, WA; Anthony Quinn and wife Diane of Milton, VT; April Tierney of New Durham, NH; Karl Quinn and wife Nancy of Fairfield, CT ; sister-in-law Linda Quinn of Port Charlotte, FL ; sister-in-law Joyce Stevens of Farmington, NH. He will also be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and former colleagues who knew him for his kindness, sense of humor, and enduring warmth.

Jim will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, easy laughter, deep love for his family, and the way he lit up every room he entered. He truly lived life to the fullest.

The Quinn family extends their deepest thanks to the staff at William Childs Hospice House for the compassionate care given to Jim in his final days.

A memorial service will be held later this fall in Maine to celebrate Jim’s remarkable life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Farmington 500 Boys and Girls Club, PO Box 404, Farmington, NH.
