Joseph Boneri Obituary

Joseph J. Boneri, age 58, passed away peacefully, with his wife by his side, on September 16, 2024, in Palm Bay, FL
after a two-year battle with cancer. Joe fought very hard and endured his treatments so bravely, always keeping a
positive attitude.
Joe was born June 1966 in the Bronx, NY to proud parents Angelina and Daniel Boneri. He spent most of his
childhood years in the Bronx and Wappingers Falls, NY. Joe was blessed to grow up surrounded by a large family. He
was the youngest of six children and had many fond memories of fun times spent with siblings, nieces, nephews, aunts,
uncles, and cousins.
His school years in the Village of Wappingers Falls, NY were full of fun and adventure with his crew of friends. Many
of those dear friendships were lifelong. Joe graduated from Roy C. Ketcham High School in 1985.
In 1990, Joe connected with and began dating his wife, Lisa. Their love grew and they were married in 1995 in
Wappingers Falls. Together, they worked hard, began building their life and in 1996 purchased their first home in the
Town of Poughkeepsie, NY.
Their GREATEST blessing would arrive in May 2000 in the form of a beautiful baby boy. Joe loved being a dad to
Brandon more than anything. He was truly Joe's pride and joy. That pride only deepened as Brandon matured and
grew into a loving, smart, and respectful young man.
The Boneri family soon moved to Palm Bay, FL in 2003 to escape the northern winters and be closer to family and
friends.
Joe was a particularly excellent painter and worked in the construction industry most of his life. He also learned offset
printing skills for a few years in Danbury, CT. The last twenty years Joe worked as a handyman in Florida, including
starting his own business. His reputation as TRUSTED, talented, and hardworking was a large source of pride for Joe.
His work ethic was to be admired. He especially loved running circles around his younger co-workers.
Joe's many hobbies, over the years, included fishing freshwater & salt water, camping, RC cars and car shows. He
bought a Honda Talon a few years back and what a blast that was! Memorable off-road adventures with family and
friends. Joe loved music - ALL KINDS of music. He always had a very nice sound system and would often be found
blasting music from his mancave in the garage. He was happy to share the quality sound limits of his speakers with the
neighbors - whether they appreciated it or not.
Joe was very active and physically fit. He liked weightlifting and was an avid mountain biker. Even in Florida he was
able to enjoy long rides in the woods with steep, technical trails not far from home. The Santos trails in Ocala and the
Grapefruit trails right here in Palm Bay were a couple of his favorites. In recent years Joe became an aficionado of
vintage bicycles. He used his patient and talented hands to restore shine and history back to some beautiful classic
models. If you lived in our neighborhood, you would see or hear Joe daily, riding one of his old Schwinn’s and
cranking the Motown music on his JBL speaker.
Family was everything to Joe - always his first priority. He was deeply grateful that all his life, he was blessed with
loving family. In addition to his wife and son, Lisa and Brandon Boneri, Joe is survived by his very caring and
supportive, sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret Glickman (Max) of Port St. Lucie, FL and Theresa Garcia (Robert) of
Lakeland, FL. Joe is also survived by many dear nieces, nephews, and cousins whom he loved very much.
Joe had a deep connection with his sweet girl Lola, his most loyal canine companion. The beautiful daddy's girl was
adopted into the family after they had been in a serious car accident. Lola was exceptionally smart and intuitive about
Joe's emotions and well-being. She sensed when Joe was stressing and could ease his worries instantly. She played a
major role in helping Joe recover from the car accident injuries. When the cancer treatments started two years ago,
Lola was again, the calm and comfort always by his side right to the end. Lola survives at home with Lisa and Brandon.
As blessed a life as Joe had, there was loss too. Joe was preceded in death by his loving parents Angelina and Daniel
Boneri, his brothers Robert and Edward DeFelice, his sister Diane DeFelice and his beloved niece Karen Glickman.
We will gather to celebrate Joe's life here in Palm Bay on October 24, 2024.
A Funeral Mass will begin promptly at 11 am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church (300 Malabar Rd, Palm Bay,
32907).
Immediately following the mass, we'll move next door for a delicious Italian lunch, where we can share our stories and
love of Joe together.
It's no secret, JOE REALLY LOVED DOGS, so in lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor him, may choose to donate
to your local Animal Humane Society, Animal Shelter, or Animal Rescue.
The Boneri Family wishes to THANK YOU ALL for the Love and Support they have received.
