Richard Morris Obituary

The Life of Our Beloved, Richard Alwyn Morris, began on a beautiful sunny Monday morning on November 17, 1947, on the lovely island of St. Kitts to the late Elizabeth "Annie" Morris and Frank Phipps. The youngest of five children, Richard, also affectionately called “Rich”, “Richie” and “Boon” grew up to be an incredibly hard-working, intelligent, ambitious, and caring man loved by all he encountered in his hometown of Tabernacle and as he traveled abroad. Growing up with great love and pride for his vibrant cultural roots, Richard loved calypso/soca music, family, friends, nature, and food. Even those rascal green monkeys who used to come through the kitchen windows and steal the food right off of his plate.
In his early years, he traveled throughout the Caribbean for his education and work. A jack of all trades, he worked in many vocations including fishing docks, ships, restaurant cook/chef, taxi driving, etc. He lived in St. Thomas and later in Puerto Rico, where he worked as a chef for a year. Ultimately, Richard settled in the United States, joining his oldest sister Livvy in New York City to the country where he made his home since his young adult years.
It was in the USA, where he was married, had children and grandchildren, and settled down for his present, future, and destiny.
Being a man of many skills and talents, Richard became a Master's licensed ASE Certified Transmission Specialist in the 1970s a long illustrious successful career from which he retired from in 2016. He lived in New York, New Jersey, South Carolina, and Florida and he traveled the world.
On February 4, 2023, God plucked our beloved Richard from his earthly garden for heavenly admiration. His golden heart stopped beating and hard-working hands finally stopped to lay at rest joining his sisters Iris Phipps and Livvy Herndon in eternal paradise. He leaves to cherish his many beautiful memories with his five loving children, D. D. Morris, Annie Morris, Alvin Morris, Regina Morris, and Gregory Morris, and his grandchildren. Richard also leaves to mourn, one brother, Charles "Samuel" Morris, and one sister, Eugene Phipps, and also his nieces, nephews, cousins, stepchildren, stepgrandchildren, and lifelong friends. Richard was extremely dear to all and will be missed until we meet him again in Everlasting Glory!
