The family of Stephen Lynn McMains is saddened to announce his passing on February 1, 2026 at the age of 76 in Melbourne Florida.
He was born on July 7, 1949 in Greencastle Indiana to parents Ivor and Waneta McMains. He is survived by his wife Camelia Fiezi and her children Senol and Alice, daughter Stephanie Wolfe (James), son Robert McMains (Kristina), grandchildren Samuel and Lydia Wolfe and Sutton and Easton McMains, brother Randal McMains and sister Rebecca Carrington.
Stephen graduated Greencastle High School in 1967 and enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1969. He served in Vietnam and Thailand from March 1973-June 1975 and earned several medals of honor and citations of service. He transitioned to the Marine Corps Reserves in 1976 and retired honorably with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4 in 1997. Professionally, Stephen worked as an electronics technician for COMSAT and then Lockheed Martin for 22 years.
He enjoyed restoring old cars, especially Corvettes, repairing and building computers in the 1990s, skiing with his children, traveling in his RV, visiting military bases, and the warmth of Florida in his later years. He had a heart for service and helping others, never met a stranger, and will be greatly missed.
The family will be pursuing burial in Arlington National Cemetery per Stephen’s wishes at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Toys for Tots at toysfortots.org if you are so inclined.
